Whitewater is a real, old school ski hill that brings expert skiers back year on year to experience some of Canada's deepest, driest and best snow
That is despite the limited infrastructure, lack of fast chairlifts and long journey to get here – skiing at Whitewater is a bit of an adventure but is well worth experiencing if you get the chance. There are greens and blues on the trail map, but the main attractions are the steep glades, chutes and hike-to terrain that make this resort so special.
The town of Nelson is only 20 minutes away and is the place to stay. It has a lively atmosphere as a real frontier town, plus a number of bars usually busy with skiers relaxing after a long day skiing powder or preparing to head up into the surrounding mountains for heliskiing or catskiing adventures of a lifetime. Speaking of which, Whitewater is a great resort to warm up at before heading out in the steeper, deeper and remoter parts of British Columbia either by heli or snowcat.
