Current conditions:
who drive on by to visit Mayrhofen or Zell am Ziller a little further up the valley. But with a great lift system, over 85km of well groomed slopes and ambitious plans to link the resort to nearby Fügen with a big 3S gondola, Kaltenbach is a real Austrian heavyweight. The terrain is well suited to intermediates, but there’s good steeper slopes up high and scope for off piste too.
The town itself is small and well located at the foot of the two access gondolas, which provide very quick access up to the slopes in the morning. It is a small place, but a few accommodation options and a decent selection of restaurants and bars, but don’t come here expecting a huge number of options.
Getting here is easy, with quick access from Innsbruck – the drive takes less than an hour.
